A lot of people rely on the government to help them with their needs, but people often don't realize that the government is actually composed of corrupt individuals. The corruption causes many problems which are both prevalent today and in the future. For example, during the time this quote is written, the American economy was growing at an amazing rate.

However, this growth had to be subsidized by borrowing which caused inflation later on. This led to higher taxes which also harmed the economy since the money wasn't being used for its intended purpose. It was instead being wasted on unproductive people while the productive people were unable to get loans.
